I wonder what the next 365 will bring?
Imagine if our planet Earth traveled slower or faster? Or what if it had a bigger or smaller loop around the sun? What if a year was 5555 days or 22?
i’m reminded of the small planet that the Little Prince comes from & visits on his way to planet Earth. i love that book, The Little Prince. When i was a kid, i wanted to make a quilt with the illustrations on it. i thought it would be a great way to invite imaginative traveling dreams. i didn’t take up quilting but i still think its a fun idea.
i’ve started adding color to several new drawings in this gap week. i plan to post this one when its done, in February when i hit my 3 year anniversary of my renewed commitment to drawing. The original line drawing was done in celebration of the first 365 days of drawing in Feb. of 2021. So it celebrated a year of drawing daily but not the start of our calendar year.
No reason not to use it that way… so i thought this first bit of adding color in 2023 made a fun New Year Greeting.
May you experience many Shooting Star Golden Moments in 2023!
i’m not usually ready to review a past year and focus on the next right at the beginning of January. i think i need a bit of a gap after the holidays.
If you’re in a gap and have yet to consider and orient to the new year, here are a few questions to use in between.
When you think about your 22 loop around the sun:
- What learning, experiences or creations bring a smile to your face? What are worthy of making a star burst in celebration?
- What turbulence, yes even, about to careen off course into outer space, kind of turbulence, are you so relieved to be done with? So relieved, its worth celebrating? (i think the last few years have been kind of like that for a lot of folks…)
- What are you excited about, looking forward to? Could make you glow inside like the northern lights?
- What would have to happen to make it a magical loop around the sun in 2023? (i know, i’m being fanciful here… i don’t mean winning the lottery. It has to be something you can participate in bringing about in a bigger way than buying a ticket)
- What is your part in bringing that about?
Hi Lisa, happy new year! I already wrote a reply post and apparently I lost it before I sent it. To summarize what I’ve already written I wanted to let you know I love your art, is it digital? I look forward to seeing this piece with color, what a great project! I took a class in jewelry design at a local community college this winter and I learned Rhino 3-D (CAD) software, what a mind bender! I realized as I was writing this post that I have an unfinished project in Rhino 3-D and if I don’t go back and finish it, I will forget everything I’ve learned . I’ve been recovering from the flu for the past 26 days, hard to believe. 2023 is starting off trying to finish up 2022. I’m looking forward to starting a fresh new year. I loved your questions, they are very provocative. I think of you and Ed often and I hope you’re both doing very well, and the same for your mother. Phil and I are fine, even though I still have a cough, and we are happy and grateful.
Thank you Robin! Yes it is digital work, i use an app called Sketchbook, on an ipad with an ipencil. i do upload a photo of an original pencil drawing, then all the color is added digitally. Great to hear of your jewelry class and the 3D class. i could use to learn some more about sketchbook, i know i’m just scratching the surface of what it can do. Yes, mind bendinng to keep the vast amount possible with tech/digital work all in ones noggin, especially with all the other stuff already in there! Great to hear you and Phil are well and that you’re mostly on the other side of flu… Yeah, out of the way early in season!
All with Ed and i and my Mom is “good enough” to use an Ed saying ; – ) Many fond thoughts of you, Phil and the wider paddling community here too. i miss and look forward to better currents for connecting. In gratitude, i appreciate your message!
