Does it work in reverse?
If ekphrastic poetry is writing a poem that includes a description of visual art, does it work the other way? Would a work of art that describes a piece of writing or a sculpture, qualify as ekphrastic art?
Ekphrastic, what a great word, i’ll leave you with that question. invite you to explore…
I’m preparing this drawing to add color, it has my pine river wash bowl sitting on my grandfather’s cherry candle stand. A reproduction to match the original and completing the pair of round topped candle stands.
The writing-book included and suggesting the reverse ekphrasis is Elemental Beginnings, a delightful first book by Frauke Kasper.
And the overlooked radiator, an iron work of art, artist unknown. Hot enough to burn your britches, scorch your mittens!
Hold on!
i’m not ready for winter…
First a golden autumn!
Registration is now open for Haven Habits
Have a great week!
Oh I’m glad we connected today on zoom! So beautiful that the inspiration continues – it really is true we cannot control what effect our art will have once it’s out in the world – it takes on its own life… I love that my book is part of your drawing.
And thank you for the new word : ekphrastic – amazing.

So many synchronicities.
Frauke, Thank you! Your zoom was wonderful, loved the meditation and reading. Too fun about the song synchronicity as well. Thanks for the link to it!
