Week 71: After a Pause

When you first start building a new groove, (healthy habit) its helpful to create streaks of everyday practice and its important not to beat yourself up if you should miss a day and break your streak. No big deal if you can learn from what derailed you and get back to the practice. Keep at it and eventually you’ll land on autopilot.

Once that’s happened and you feel confident you’ve got a good daily rhythm flowing, a break can be a welcomed refresh and re-evaluation. If you have an inner rebel/rule breaker, like i do, she’ll enjoy it!

My recent break from posting weekly was a welcomed and needed pause.

i actually continued drawing after a few days despite not posting for 2 weeks. So, i have many versions of this drawing. You might notice, the background (floor) color on the featured photo (on home page) is green and a dark red above. i also did variations with a pale yellow, milky purple, deep purple, olive green, blue/gray.

None are working for me, including the ones i’ve shared here. i’m setting it aside, as time and space from it will give me a fresh perspective.

During the Healthy Habits workshop i ran in May/June working along side the participants, i brought back my practice of short daily stream writing. It’s been more challenging than when i’ve practiced this exercise before. i’m curious what that’s about and glad i had to show up for the workshop as it kept me practicing.

If you have a habit you’d like to create and its not happening on your own, consider joining with others.

Registration for the next cycle of Little Haven Habits Workshop is open.

Thank you for reading & sharing!

i hope you’re having a wonderful summer. See you next week!
