Rushing

Go Faster Go Slower

i don’t enjoy rushing

& sometimes things pile up and it becomes necessary.

On the other hand, i do enjoy the experience of rushing water.

So what if i imagine the experience of rushing

as though it were cool rushing water

in a mountain brook on a hot September afternoon.

That might feel invigorating.

Funny how slowing down momentarily allowed me to revisit this aversion

Even irritation at being rushed.

Actually the contrast serves to glean the value in each.

i think in general the tortoise wins & sometimes the rabbit is useful too.

How do you choose how to be?

Some of what i do in my work is help people slow down in a rushing busy world.

& sometimes i could use to speed up…

How do you find the right mix?

Thanks for being here & and may the rest of your week be a satisfying mix of rushing & wandering.

  1. Lisa,
As ever, your work is gorgeous!
Your gesture drawings from the pub often capture something elusive, what I take to be the spirit of the person.
And the positive energy in your color work radiates like warm sunshine.

Although it wouldn’t quite fit with your slowing down idea, or maybe would be a hybridization–a little of the best of both worlds–I’m imagining I might like to step into the scene and enjoy the peace and gentle uplifting sense from strolling around in that world with Virtual Reality goggles; a ready respite when reality gets to be a little too intense.

    1. Thank you Kathy! Happy to know that the work radiates to you a bit of sunshine as well as an elusive sense of ….

The virtual reality hybridization of the work is an interesting an idea i probably wouldn’t have thought of but i like the idea of providing a respite when reality feels too intense. i could imagine a dreamscape emerging from some of my color works, so why not?
