Lion’s Gate

Week 25: To the Past & Future

i went on a little time travel adventure (metaphorically) this week. A delightful connection with an important person from the past. When i shared with another friend that i was about to go on a time travel adventure, i was reminded to go with a question. Me and questions, yes! i thought, great idea!

Yet, i hadn’t quite formulated one when there i was immersed in the present with this delightful happening, reflecting on the past taking in the sweet now moment of reunion.

By the end of the evening, without having consciously asked a specific question, the answer was shared, “Jungle Woman”.

What fun, by letting go and being in an open, curious state, no expectations, i got an answer. i wonder what the question was?

Later in the week, when i was having a twilight zone experience. i actually drew on this recent connection, i became a Jungle Woman (though lions are more apt to be in savannas than jungles) i felt rather ferocious, articulate and strong, impassioned and to the point! And a little on the wild side! We’ll see where it goes….

Stepping through some kind of gate, i suppose.

i don’t actually know what engendered this name Jungle Woman.  i’ll keep you posted when i find out more…

i’d written about the experience a little and posted this drawing last night in the Akimbo WIC workshop that i’m in. i got a delightful response from a friend and fellow student about it currently being Lion’s Gate astrologically.

i don’t know a lot about astrology but i find it fun. Whether taken seriously or not, the metaphors are wonderful inspiration.

Can you think of a time you received an answer to a question you didn’t even know you were asking?

What metaphor might you play with to help transport you into your preferred future?

i’m feeling gratitude for all these connections, you know who you are, Thank you!

  1. Lisa,

I loved the use of text colour in your blog, this has provided some inspiration for me. Metaphors are so easy to come by, today I read a great one about oysters, linked to life. They have nerve endings that know who to open and shut their shell to. I think we are like that with our life, sensing what is needed in our environment, who to trust and who to protect ourselves from. Of course, I cannot take credit for this metaphor https://www.brainpickings.org/2021/08/06/oyster/.

I hope your writing journey is going well.

    Talk soon,
    Steph

    1. Thank you Steph! i love the oyster Metaphor. Thanks for your thoughts and sharing the link. i’m glad to know the colour text brought some inspiration. A little stumped with one bit of writing but then there are others to work on or go play in the garden!
