Abracadabra

A few musings on Abracadabra with a magic themed drawing from last year. 

Abracadabra! The way we send our magic into the world. Our spell, the wave of our wand. We may use words or other forms of communication to invoke our intention to change, transform or heal something or someone.

Does it work?
Do we have enough skill?
Have we practiced enough?

Is the object of our spell a willing receiver of our magic?  Willing to step into the between, jump the frame into that place of possibilities?

Abracadabra, with my art, i aspire to create little figments of magic, filaments of light, line & color to bring you joy, invite you to play, touch you in a way that could be anything from a sweet curiosity, to a bigger feeling or connection.

Draw, you, into your own between space of possibility, wake you up in some way.

When i looked up Abracadabra to be sure i wanted to use it,  i learned that in addition to being an incantation used to perform magic tricks, historically it has also been thought to have healing powers. i hadn’t known that and it pleased me.

What a fit, as a metaphor. i’ve never felt, i fit completely in the coaching or the psych/counseling world. Though i understand the point of making a distinction, i am one to push limits, blur boundaries.  i see the usefulness and the limits of these labels. i know the work i do, sometimes fits firmly in the coaching genre and other times, is clearly healing that has resulted.
