What is Escaping in Disguise?

Week 9:Crow in Disguise

i’ve come back to the previous drawing of a Crow that looks like an Eagle, now in a finished state. (there may be some minor changes but i don’t think i’ll post it again) Below a stream write, i hope you enjoy it. Thanks for reading!

“Words Escape Me” You would think that means that words come tumbling out of me, leaking forth, escaping the container of my mind/body, slipping out of my mouth, squirting from my fingertips. No in fact it means the opposite, more like a game of tag where the words are faster than you are, they keep getting away, running off before you can catch them, round the bend they quick hide up on the ledge, as you go racing by thinking they are way off ahead. Then teasing you as you stop to catch your breath they come close taunting you just out of pens reach, keyboard unable to find the keys, keys don’t work for that lock. So you write the gap and it gets you over the edge. i like the first idea better, where words are spilling out of me rather than getting away and so now when i think of words escaping me, i’ll imagine them spilling forth, flowing out of me, like a spring melt fed river, bursting out of the banks, over obstructions that held them back in the past, word no longer escape me.

I wonder what is escaping? How might you catch it?

  1. Regarding, words escape me: Metaphors and similes inside a larger sphere. A whole extended metaphor. Very visual and entertaining. Is it: A crow in disguise? or disguised as a crow? It’s hard to tell when I can’t talk.

    1. Trip, Thanks so much! Originally, it was a crow in disguise, but once i make it, its free to be whatever you imagine. Hmm Yes talking helps figure things out, hadn’t thought of it quite so directly as “its hard to tell when i can’t talk”. i appreciate that your comment has me revisiting this little stream writing.
